National Geographic describes Rico, Colorado as follows: “It could be the next Telluride, but for now this tiny mountain town likes its edges rough.” Located 45 minutes south of Telluride, Rico has strong mining town roots. Located in between the Lizard Head Wilderness Area and the Town of Dolores, the Rico area wildlife and beauty are remarkable and, with a new public hot spring in the works, Rico is a hidden gem and recent real estate transactions are proving that Rico might be the next boomtown.
