Once again Telluride celebrated the Fourth of July in a way
only our small mountain town can. The parade opened with the traditional
fly-overs with P51 Mustangs and F16s, and blue skies made for picture-perfect
spectating. Afterward the usual throngs gathered in Town Park for the
Fireman’s BBQ where heavy rains cut things short for the first
time in years. By evening the skies had cleared and many agree the
Volunteer Fire Fighter’s fireworks display was one of the best
ever!
Summer is in full swing – the Friday afternoon Farmer’s Market
on South Oak Street is back as is the Summer Sunset Concert Series
in Mountain Village every Wednesday evening. These are accompanied by a wide
variety of other events, festivals and parties. See the calendar below for more
details.
In less exciting news, on July 6 the Colorado Department of Transportation
(CDOT) began work on Keystone Hill, so plan to leave some extra time
if you’re commuting in or out of town via Highway 145 headed to Norwood
or Ridgway.
Additionally, for those of you who plan ahead and will be in town a lot
this winter, the ski resort has its “early bird” season passes
on sale now through July 28.

75 Hotel Rooms, 56 Condos
The Telluride Watch
Published: 6/30/06
By Seth Cagin
A proposal for a large luxury hotel easily won conceptual
approval from the Mountain Village Town Council this week, largely
because the application sought only minor zoning variances and
has drawn minimal public criticism. Located on Country Club Dr.
below The Peaks, alongside the first fairway of the Telluride
Golf Club course, project coordinator Greg Hanshaw said on Wednesday
that a five-star operator will be named shortly.
The project will break ground this winter, Hanshaw added, provided
that final town approvals are granted in time.

Heritage Inn Pays $15 Million
The Telluride Watch
Published:6/16/06
By Christopher Pike
A major hospitality corporation acquired the financially beleaguered
Fairway Pines Planned Unit Development on June 6 for $15 million.
The last minute sale saved the Fairway Pines owners from imminent
action on June 12 by the Ouray County Board of Commissioners
to rescind the preliminary plan and plat.
To the relief of members of the Fairway Pines Homeowners Association
and county officials, the purchase brought an end to a succession
of failed sale negotiations, lot foreclosures and at least
four extensions of revocation proceedings involving the PUD
and Ouray County.
H.T. Heritage Inn and Suites of Kansas City, Inc. and H.T.
Heritage Inn of Erie, LLC, based out of Henderson, Nev., purchased
Fairway Pines Gold Partners Ltd. and The Pines Development
Group, LLC, from James A. Willey and the James A. Willey Living
Trust. Willey was the managing partner of The Pines Development
Group along with Brad Frank.
