Delta Air Lines will begin new eight-times weekly service
between Salt Lake City and the Montrose Regional airport beginning
Dec. 14, 2006. Saturday service on a Delta flight between Hartsfield-Jackson
Atlanta International airport and Montrose will begin Dec. 16,
2006.
The Salt Lake City flights will be on the quiet and comfortable
50-seat CRJ200 regional jet aircraft, and the 142-seat MD88 jet
aircraft will provide service from Atlanta.
“We’re pleased that Delta will be serving the Telluride/Montrose
area this coming winter,” said Tom Hess, president of the
Telluride Montrose Regional Air Organization. “They have
a strong route network that should provide additional service
options out west with service from and through Salt Lake City
and in Florida and the Southeast via the Atlanta service.”
“Delta is pleased to offer service to Telluride/Montrose
via the Montrose Regional Airport, an area rich in natural beauty
and full of recreational opportunities desired by many leisure
travelers,” said Bob Cortelyou, Delta’s vice president
of network planning. “The reach and convenience of our
Atlanta hub will make it easier for Telluride/Montrose area customers
to reach most any point on the globe, whether their final destination
is Atlanta or Athens, Greece.”
In 2006 Delta is continuing to aggressively transform its
network to expand into new or underserved markets to bring its
customers one-stop access to the world. The new flights will
connect customers to nearly 200 worldwide destinations via Atlanta
and over 100 destinations via Salt Lake City.
Delta’s new Saturday non-stop service between Montrose
and Atlanta will depart Atlanta at 9:15 a.m., arriving in Montrose
at 11:04 a.m. The plane will leave Montrose at 11:55 a.m. and
arrive in Atlanta at 4:55 p.m.
The eight-times weekly non-stop service between Montrose and
Salt Lake City will depart Salt Lake Sunday through Friday at
11 a.m., arriving in Montrose at 12:03 p.m., and will depart
Montrose at 1:12 p.m., arriving in Salt Lake at 2:15 p.m.
Saturday service between Salt Lake and Montrose will feature
two flights, the first departing Salt Lake at 9:30 a.m. and arriving
Montrose at 10:33 a.m., then leaving Montrose at 11:05 and arriving
Salt Lake at 12:08 p.m. The second flight will depart Salt Lake
at 1:05 p.m., arriving Montrose at 2:08 p.m., and depart Montrose
at 3:05 p.m., arriving Salt Lake at 4:08 p.m.

marketing for the Telluride Ski Resort and TMRAO board member. “Delta
is known to fly a higher end traveler that is a great fit for
the terrific resort services and amenities offered in the region.
We expect this service to bring many new travelers to the region
and to be very successful.”
Delta’s flagship hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International
Airport is the world’s largest airline hub at the busiest

TMRAO focuses on actively pursuing air service to meet local and
visitor traveler demand. This is often facilitated through revenue
guarantee agreements with air carriers. The estimated yearly direct
guest spending economic impact to the region, due to TMRAO’s
air program, is over $50 million and the combined economic activity
in the region due to the Telluride and Montrose Airports is over
$200 million.
