James F. Lucarelli has over 18 years of experience in the Telluride real estate market. He is currently the Past President of the Telluride Association of Realtors, after serving his second term as President in 2007, and has twice been named Realtor of the Year (1997 and 2001).
In February of 2002 he founded Real Estate Affiliates of Telluride, an office that is committed to providing quality advice and personalized service for its clients – buyers, sellers and investors. Real Estate Affiliates of Telluride has quickly become one of the region’s top boutique real estate offices.
Prior to starting his own company, Jim worked for three of Telluride's major brokerage houses, acquiring a wide range of experience in the regional real estate market and developing contacts throughout the local business community. With a demonstrated expertise in high-end listings and sales, Jim has always been a top producer who can work with any type of Buyer or property.
In addition to his work as a broker in the Telluride region, Jim has also been involved in construction management and project development, building single-family residences and overseeing the creation of small neighborhoods in Mountain Village and Telluride. In the fall of 2004 his exceptional work in the Telluride region was nationally recognized when he was one of a select group of luxury home agents asked to speak at The Luxury Conclave (TLC), an invitation-only educational and networking event for successful agents from the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Great Britain.
Jim takes pride in providing personalized service backed by extensive expertise and is an active members of both the Telluride Association of Realtors and the Montrose Association of Realtors and both Multiple Listing Services (MLS), allowing him to access and introduce clients to any and all of the properties listed in the region or across the western slope.
Jim moved to Telluride in 1990 after a seven-year career on Wall Street. A former Associate Vice President with Citibank and member of the New York Commodities Exchange who traded in gold futures, Jim has a strong investment-oriented background, having worked in both commodities and finance.
An active member of the Telluride Association of Realtors, Jim has served on its Board of Directors since 1995. He is also the current President of One to One (Telluride's version of Big Brothers/Big Sisters), the Treasurer of the Telluride Pilots Association, the Secretary/Treasurer of Deep Creek Ranches Homeowner's Association, a former West Meadows board member and former member of Telluride's Planning and Zoning Committee, a member of the steering committee for The Nature Conservancy's local branch and currently a Telluride Volunteer Fire Department Lieutenant, having served as a Captain prior to that, and as a firefighter and ambulance driver since 1996.
A native of Rumson, New Jersey, Jim attended Roanoke College in Virginia. He now lives on Last Dollar Road with his wife, Virginia, and two daughters. When he's not busy selling real estate he can often be found flying, fishing, hiking, hunting or skiing.
